Analysis of Danieli QSP-DUE ® Multifunctional Endless Rolling Technology

Thanks to Danieli's multifunctional endless rolling (DUE ®) The process can provide three rolling modes, which can meet all the requirements of the plate product market. QSP-DUE ® Technology can adopt endless rolling, semi endless rolling, and single coil rolling modes on a production line to achieve the production of hot rolled steel grades, multiphase steel, ultra-thin strip steel, and thick gauge strip steel.

QSP-DUE ® It is the latest QSP developed by Danieli ® Technology, using straight arc thin slab continuous casting machine Dysencaster ®, Divide the rolling mill frame into a large reduction unit and a precision rolling unit. Compared with traditional thin slab production methods, feeding thicker slabs (up to 160mm) on the rolling mill can significantly improve the reduction rate between slabs and strips, resulting in the production of ultra-thin strips with a minimum thickness of 0.8mm and thick gauge strips with a maximum thickness of 25mm, covering a width of approximately 900mm to 2000mm.

The online width adjustment of the slab during the continuous casting process further improves the flexibility of the equipment. Producing 160mm thick slabs at a casting speed of 6.5m/min means that the production capacity of a single stream continuous casting machine can reach up to 4.5 million tons, making the investment per ton of steel more attractive. Using QSP-DUE ® The process can produce all advanced high-strength steel grades and automotive steel, including ultra-thin products. Thanks to the additional benefits brought by market recognized high value-added products, ensuring high profitability of the production line.

QSP-DUE ® Can optimize the energy consumption of different products. The effective combination of thermal and electrical energy (gas tunnel furnaces and induction heating) can minimize carbon dioxide emissions and help achieve the vision of "green steel".

  Single coil rolling mode

In the single roll rolling mode, the continuous casting machine and rolling mill operate independently. The slab is segmented by a pendulum shear at the entrance of the heating furnace. Each slab is heated and homogenized through a tunnel furnace. Rolling is divided into two stages: rough rolling, which uses three large reduction mills to obtain appropriate intermediate billet thickness; Precision rolling refers to the final thickness of the strip rolled through five rolling mills.

  two

  Half endless rolling mode

The slab generated in the semi endless rolling mode with the same length as the tunnel furnace can be used to produce several steel coils. The high-speed flying shear installed in front of the underground coiling machine is used for winding. Due to the independent operation of the continuous casting machine and rolling mill, the rolling speed is independent of the drawing speed, and semi endless rolling production can be achieved without the need for an electric induction heater. The advantage of the semi endless rolling mode is that it can produce ultra-thin products without increasing additional energy consumption, and achieve more stable mechanical properties under the thermal mechanical rolling process.

  three

  Endless rolling mode

In the endless rolling mode, the continuous casting machine, large reduction mill, and finishing mill are directly connected to ensure uninterrupted production. The steel coil is separated by a high-speed flying shear in front of the underground coiler. This rolling mode is suitable for the continuous production of thin and ultra-thin strips.

*If the customer does not produce ultra-thin products at the beginning, headless rolling can be achieved later by installing an electric induction heater.
