How is the corrosion resistance of alloy 59?
Overall corrosion, alloy 59 was tested in hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid, and it can be seen that its corrosion resistance is better than corrosion resistant alloys such as C-276, C-22, 686, and C-2000. Under the conditions of 50% H2SO4+1.5% Cl, alloy 59 has better corrosion resistance than C-276 alloy and Inconel 625 alloy.
The results obtained in the ASTM 28A test for intergranular corrosion indicate that C-276 alloy is the most sensitive to intergranular corrosion, while alloy 59 has the lowest sensitivity to intergranular corrosion caused by sensitization, even better than C-4 and C-22 alloys. In the two media of ASTM 28A and ASTM 28B, after sensitization tests at 871 ℃ for different times, alloy 59 has the best intergranular corrosion resistance, which also indicates that its microstructure and thermal stability are also the best.
Pitting and crevice corrosion, due to the high equivalent value of pitting resistance of alloy 59, up to 76, this alloy also has the highest resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion temperatures, as well as the shallowest crevice corrosion depth.
