Introduction to Channel Steel Products

Channel steel is a long strip of steel with a groove shaped cross-section. A steel section with a groove shape. Channel steel belongs to carbon structural steel used for construction and machinery, and is a complex cross-section steel with a groove shape. Channel steel is mainly used in building structures, curtain wall engineering, mechanical equipment, and vehicle manufacturing. In use, it is required to have good welding, riveting performance, and comprehensive mechanical properties. The raw material for producing channel steel is carbon bonded steel or low alloy steel with a carbon content not exceeding 0.25%. Finished channel steel is delivered in hot working, normalized or hot rolled state, and its specification is expressed in millimeters of waist height (h) * leg width (b) * waist thickness (d), such as 100 * 48 * 5.3, which means channel steel with waist height of 100 mm, leg width of 48 mm, and waist thickness of 5.3 mm, or 10 # channel steel. For channel steel with the same waist height, if there are several different leg widths and waist thicknesses, a bc should be added to the right of the model to distinguish them, such as 25 # a 25 # b 25 # c. Channel steel is divided into ordinary channel steel and light channel steel. The specifications of hot-rolled ordinary channel steel are 5-40 #. The specifications of hot-rolled flexible channel steel supplied through agreement between the supply and demand parties are 6.5-30 #. Channel steel is mainly used in building structures, vehicle manufacturing, and other industrial structures, and is often used in conjunction with I-beams. Shape classification

Channel steel can be divided into four types according to its shape: cold formed equal edge channel steel, cold formed unequal edge channel steel, cold formed inner rolled edge channel steel, cold formed outer rolled edge channel steel. The specifications of channel steel are mainly represented by dimensions such as height (h), leg width (b), waist thickness (d), etc. Currently, domestic channel steel specifications range from 5 to 40, which corresponds to a height of 5-40cm. At the same height, lightweight channel steel has narrower legs, thinner waist, and lighter weight than regular channel steel. 18-40 are large channel steels, while 5-16 are medium channel steels. Imported channel steel shall be marked with actual specifications, dimensions, and relevant standards. The import and export ordering of channel steel is generally based on the specifications required during use after determining the corresponding carbon bonded steel (or low alloy steel) steel grade. Except for the specification number, channel steel does not have a specific composition or performance series.
