How is oxygen free copper made?
The processing of C101 oxygen free copper only differs during the final refining stage. Standard high-purity copper is refined under standard atmosphere conditions to further reduce the oxygen content. The final refining process must be carried out in an oxygen free environment.
This may include melting in an oxygen free environment and pouring into castings, such as vacuum or carefully controlled inert atmosphere. Due to the additional processing complexity of producing the required product purity, C101 oxygen free copper is the most expensive copper brand on the market.
